Drivers’ Licenses for Illegal Immigrants
On February 28, 2023, Senator Stanley cast the DECIDING vote to advance a Democrat-authored bill from a Senate committee granting drivers licenses to illegal aliens (SB 669 - passed on 7-6 vote). The bill ultimately failed to advance in the full Senate.
Taxing Plastic Bags
On February 24, 2026, at a time when President Trump and other Republicans are working hard to bring down the cost of living and the price of everyday items for working Oklahomans, Senator Stanley voted for a Democrat-authored bill allowing cities to start taxing plastic bags (SB 1471). This is the type of liberal bill passed in places like Boston and San Fransisco - not conservative Oklahoma.
Forcing Christians to Perform Abortions
On April 4, 2024, Senator Stanley cast the DECIDING vote to kill a Republican-authored bill that would have protected Christian healthcare workers from being forced to perform procedures like abortion if it violated their religious beliefs (HB 3214 - died on 6-6 tie vote). The bill had passed the House of Representatives on a vote of 70-17, but it failed in the Senate due to Senator Stanley’s vote.
